HEAT Center The Maryland Writing project held its first session at the HEAT Center in Harford County in 2009

Projects - (1)Individual presentations that provide writing IDeaS and strategies for teachers to implement in their classrooms.(2)Publishing personal and professional pieces in an anthology. (3) Submission of pieces to the professional market.

Community - The Writing Project fosters a spirit of caring and encouragement as it embodies a diverse group of writers. Teachers across the grade levels ranging from elementary to college collectively share their unique writing abilities and best practices with each other. Strengths are celebrated as skills are fostered and improved in a safe environment.

Anthology Each fellow writes both a personal and professional piece that is complied into a bound book. Fellows can submit relevant and self created art work to enhance their written work. The anthology theme is determined by the group and is connected to the Visitor's Day theme. The anthology is a result of the fellows working together through the revision process in effort to produce their best works.

Visitors Day: The visitors' Day, scheduled for the morning of July 17, 2009, will be the culmination of the MD Writing Project Summer Invitational Institute at the HEAT Center in Aberdeen. We will have guests, many of whom will never have come to the HEAT Center before. Our guests will be from work, community and educational settings and from our personal lists of families and friends. There will be presentations and, as usual, feasting. The theme will be...(up in the air). Our class anthology will be on display. It is a quick version of publication.
