Martin St Hilaire
Martin St Hilaire (born April 4, 1964 in London) is a non-league footballer who has played for most of his career as either a winger or striker.
"Saint" or "Sainty" enjoyed most success as a member of the Enfield F.C. side which won the Diadora League Championship in 1995, where he thrilled fans with his blistering pace and ability to take on defenders.
This coincided with Enfield's FA Cup winning run in the same year under manager George Borg which saw the E's reach the third round after knocking out league opponents Cardiff City F.C. and Torquay United F.C.
Having been drawn away to Leicester City F.C. the non-leaguers travelled to Filbert Street eventually losing 0-2 to their Premiership opponents. "Saint" put in a memorable performance, prompting the home fans to chant "sign him up" at the end of the game.
"Saint" also won the supporters goal of the season award with his stunning strike against Wokingham Town F.C. in March 1995.
After the 1995 season he left the E's for Yeovil Town F.C., scoring 11 goals in 44 games, but later rejoined for Enfield for a second spell.
Unable to settle with one club "Saint" played for a number of teams in the late 1990s, including Billericay Town and Dagenham & Redbridge but always remained a favourite among fans.
In 2000 "Saint" took over as player/manager of Hertford Town F.C. but after only a few months decided to stand down joining Romford F.C. and then East Thurrock United F.C.
In 2001 he joined newly formed Enfield Town F.C. in the Essex Senior League. "Saint" made his Enfield Town debut against Bowers United in December 2001.
He became the oldest Town player to score in a competitive match in the 7-0 demolition of Ilford F.C. in April 2003, aged 39 years and 20 days.
"Saint" also held the record for Enfield Town's fastest ever competitive goal, after 38 seconds at home to Brentwood F.C. in January 2002, before this was beaten by Matt Negus who scored in 16 seconds against Arlesey Town in December 2006.
In 2005 "Saint" took part in a charity match to help raise money for the tsunami disaster appeal when he was part of a special Enfield Legends XI managed by Paul Furlong who took on the current Enfield Town team.
At the age of 43 "Saint" is currently playing for Mountnessing F.C. in the Essex Olympian Football League Premier Division.
He is the father of Keke St Hilaire was also plays for Mountnessing F.C.
