Margot Leitman
Margot Leitman is an American comedic storyteller, humor writer, and teacher. Leitman is originally from Matawan, New Jersey. She appeared as a regular sketch performer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, where she acted as the character “Gyno-blast”. Margot currently teaches storytelling at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre where she hosts the [...]-themed storytelling show, Stripped Stories. She has a spouse, Dan Curry and son, Levon Dean.
Background and televised work
Early television appearances on Best Week Ever and Cheap Seats led Leitman to her role as “Gyno-blast” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In addition to appearances on comedy shows, Leitman was the lead voice of “Fox” on Spike TV’s animated series, The Team, and has been in commercials for Bertolli Italian Dinners, Lowe’s Hardware, and Mohegan Sun Casino. She has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, AMC, Comedy Central, and MTV.
Writing
Leitman wrote an autobiographical one-woman show, “Just Here for the Day,” which ran for six months at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York and Los Angeles. She is the co-writer of “Slow Night,” a hit one-act play that also ran for six months and became an off-off Broadway pick by New York magazine.
Her writing has been featured in the Lifetime Network online, CollegeHumor.com, EHow.com, the Frisky.com, and in print in Playgirl and the NY Press. She is also the co-writer of “Cupid’s Bed and Breakfast,” a made-for-TV movie airing soon on the Hallmark Channel.
In 2013, Leitman’s autobiographical book, Gawky: Tales of an Extra Long Awkward Phase will be published in print by Seal Press.
Awards
Leitman is a two-time nominee of the ECNY Award for Best female stand-up, one-time nominee of the ECNY award for best female storyteller and four-time winner of The Moth Storyslam. Her winning story was the first in the history of the Moth Grandslam to receive a perfect score of 10.
