Marco Umgeher
Marco Imbang Umgeher is a Filipino-Austrian skier.
Early life
Umgeher was born in December 16, 2001 to an Austrian father, Hannes Umgeher and a Filipino mother, Gemma Francisco Imbang-Umgeher, who is a native of Sebaste, Antique. Marco Umgeher also has an older sister by the name of Jessica. His family resides in the Austrian town of Alland.
He went to primary school in Alland from 2008 to 2012 and attended New Middle School Alland for his secondary studies from 2012 to 2016.
Career
Marco Umgeher has been skiing since the age of 5. He has been practicing the disciplines of Winter Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super-G. Umgeher first received attention in Rohr im Gebirge, Wiener Neustadt-Land where he finished first place at the Schilowsky Kidscup Ost in the slalom race. He later received attention from the ÖSV, or the Austrian Skiing Association.
Umgeher has been winning in ski racing competitions since 2009. In 2016 he won first place at the Lower Austrian Championship Combination and in the Lower Austrian Championship, Hochkar, Slalom It was reported on July 2016, that the Philippine Sports Commission will support Umgeher, after the skier expressed intention to represent the Philippines at the World Cup and 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
