Marco Carmona

Marco Antonio Carmona Araiza (born August 9, 1987) is a Mexican artist, writer, illustrator, animator and musician.

Marco Carmona was born in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of Marco Sr., an industrial engineer and free time artist, and Eloina, a special education teacher. He has also one younger sister, María Bárbara. Carmona moved to the city of Querétaro when he was two years old and spent most of his teen years practicing different techniques of drawing and painting by himself. Later on, he joined the Casa de Cultura in the borough Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Querétaro, where he continued his studies under the tutelage of artist Ernesto Zavala. At the age of fourteen, he started experimenting making electronic music, and made his first musical demo album by the age of 17. In his later teens Carmona moved to Canada to study Visual Arts and Design and joined Vancouver Film School to become a 2D animator.

Even though Carmona has never made a widely known musical or artistic debut, some of his paintings and drawings were shown in different expositions in the city of Querétaro, and his songs were played in several events in the same city. Carmona has also worked as a concept artist, graphic designer and storyboard artist, and is currently working on future musical and 2D animation projects.

Carmona taught himself how to draw and paint, but his father was the one who instigated him into the subject and showed him the basic techniques during Carmona's childhood. Because of this fact, he is the person Carmona has always considered as his mentor. Most of Carmona's art and writing involves Fantasy, Martial Arts, Weird Western and Steampunk elements, due to the fact that he has been a martial arts practitioner, played Dungeons & Dragons during his childhood, and has been a Sci-fi and Western movie fan for most of his life. His works also involve Spiritual and Metaphysical subjects due to his religious beliefs.

Carmona took the surname Noil 01 After finishing some of his first artistic and musical projects, which is the word Lion spelled backwards, and was chosen after his zodiac sign Leo and the characteristics this animal possesses that he identifies himself with. Besides speaking his native Spanish, Carmona speaks fluent English and Ipari, a language he invented for some of his stories.
