Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology (MIMIT)

Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology is brought up under the able guidance of Board of Governors, headed by Hon’able Technical Education Minister, Govt. of Punjab. Located in the Green Field Enclave, Malout (Punjab), the self contained campus is a beautiful academic and administrative three storied building spread over 25 acres of land which has been magnificently and aesthetically designed by the Chief Architecture of Punjab. MIMIT is the only Govt. Institute to offer both MBA & B.Tech programs in Punjab. At present, it is offering four undergraduate courses, i.e. B.Tech.-IT, CSE, ECE & ME and one postgraduate course, i.e. MBA.

MIMIT is 3rd of its kind in India to offer certified courses recognized by SUN Microsystems. The institute has a certified academy for training students in collaboration with CISCO Inc. The institute offers an inspiring learning environment, which transforms our bright young scholars into talented, creative and disciplined professionals. The Institute also has a centrally Air-Conditioned double storied Computer Center equipped with a number of computers, mainly with C2D configuration. It is connected to LAN and has the latest technology, licensed software and peripherals along with around the clock internet access through 6Mbps leased line(1:1). On its lush green, pollution-free campus, it has well designed and graciously built separate hostels for boys and girls having capacity for 350 boys and 150 girls respectively with all modern facilities.

Facilities

• Central Library:-MIMIT has 10500 sq.ft. double storied well stocked fully automated library. This library is the first library in Punjab State that is interlinked with DELNET (Developing Library Network). It has established a digital library which includes e-journals, e-books, e-reference sources, databases of theses and dissertations, subject gateway and MIMIT digital resources etc. User can access MIMIT Central Library at LAN level and at WAN level.
• Central Computer Centre:- Computer Labs are constant heaps of activity throughout the year. The institute has fully Wi-Fi with 6mbps leased line form Reliance Communication. Students and faculty have convenient access to information from all over the world. There are four centrally air conditioned computer labs, which house up to 400 computers nodes each along with related peripherals, internet connectivity etc.
• Delnet:-For the benefits of our students and faculty, we have interlinked our library with DELNET (Developing Library Network, New Delhi). The DELNET facility is also accessible to students from computer labs as the password is provided to them. Library is also in the process of inter-linking with other on-line libraries. All the offices and the faculty has the facility of telephone & internet connection.

• Faculty Residences:-MIMIT has housing facilities for the Principal, Officers, Professors, Assistant Professors, Lectures, Ministerial Staff and supporting Staff within the institute Campus itself. Besides the houses, MIMIT also has a Market, Departmental Store, Gymnasium and a Guest house within the campus.
• Transport:-The Institute has one 32 seated bus and one 52 seated bus, two jeeps & an ambulance for the convenience of the staff and students. Ambulance is available for 24 hours for medical purpose besides bus and jeeps cater the need of official and industrial visits.
• Guest House:-The Institute has fully Air-conditioned Guest House the service of which is provided to accommodate various guests at nominal prices.
• Water & Electricity Supply :-The Institute has treated water supply and power generators of capacity 250 KW have been installed to ensure sufficient power supply during working hours. The labs and systems have been protected by latest fire fighting systems.

Co-curricular activities

• Sports:-Sports are deemed to be most important among co-curricular activities. Institute believes in the all-round development of our students-physical, mental and spiritual. Facilities exist for all the popular indoor and outdoor games in spacious playgrounds. The college Basketball team won the PTU Zonal Basketball tournament in 2006. The college Handball team was Runner-Up in PTU Zonal Handball tournament in session 2007 and won Third position in PTU Zonal Handball tournament in session 2007.
• NSS:-To understand the aim and working of India’s National Service Scheme (popularly called as NSS). The NSS was formed in 1969 with an aim to “inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the students, and to provide service to the society without any prejudice.NSS volunteers work hard day and night to ensure that every one in our society who is needy gets the every possible help from them so that they can also enhance their standards and lead a life of dignity in the society with all of us. In doing so the volunteers themselves learn a lot from the people in villages like how to struggle and how to lead a happy life in the extreme scarcity of resources and so on.

Collaborations

The Institute has signed MOU’s with CISCO Inc.USA, which provides four semester programmes by online testing, student-performance tracking, and quality Assurance Plan in the field of networking with the latest CISCO Routers and Switches. Our Institute also affiliates with the Sun Micro System USA. Sun Academic Initiative (SAI) progamme is designed to introduction students to Sun Technologies and equip them with skills in their chosen fields of study. MIMIT is also Institute member (I M 1049) of Indian Society of Technical Education, New Delhi . Most of the students of the college are members of the student chapter. The main objective of I.S.T.E is the overall development of students and faculty members through technical Programmes , seminars, debates etc.
