Luke Herbert

Luke Herbert (born August 14, 1982) is an international session drummer originally from Sydney, Australia, who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

Herbert has studied drums with session great Bernard Purdie and jazz legend Joe Morello in New York City.

Herbert moved to Music City in November of 2006. Shortly after arriving in America, Herbert, as drummer for The Deep Vibration, signed with record label Dualtone Music Group. The band began recording its EP, Veracruz,with producer Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Fiona Apple). The project featured contributions from Gillian Welch, Al Perkins (Flying Burritos Bros), Spooner Oldham (Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge), and Craig Krampf (Alice Cooper, Kim Carnes).

Herbert has also worked on multiple projects with musicians and producers in Los Angeles, such as Don Peake (Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Everly Brothers), Scarlett Revira (violin: Bob Dylan, Dixie Chicks).

Herbert also recently finished A Tour on the west coast, on which he opened for Sheryl Crow with Australian singer/songwriter Clint Crighton. He also recently completed a record in North Hollywood with Australian artist D Henry Fenton.

In Australia Herbert was an in-demand session drummer working with a roster of over 40 artists. Before Herbert left Australia, he was mainly touring the east coast with Australian rock legend Brian Cadd. Cadd had spent many years also living in the States, writing hits and playing with ''The Flying Burritos Bros, Ringo Starr, Cilia Black, Joe Cocker and The Pointer Sisters.

Herbert is currently working with his band The Deep Vibration, and has released an EP that is available via independent music stores across the USA and iTunes. The Deep Vibration is currently preparing for the studio and their first full-length record. Herbert also continues to freelance for many talented up-and-coming artists across the United States.1
