Lorenzo Fariselli
Lorenzo Fariselli (born 1980) is an Italian researcher specializing in emotional intelligence. He serves as the Regional Network Director for Six Seconds Europe and Italy. Fariselli is a co-developer of the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence (SEI) assessment and the Vital Signs organizational performance tools.
Early life and education
Born in Bologna, Italy, Fariselli attended the University of Padua, where he earned a master's degree in work and social psychology in 2005. His thesis focused on the development of methods for evaluating emotional intelligence. In 2010, he completed an executive master's in strategic business management in Bologna.
Career
Fariselli joined Six Seconds in late 2005. Between 2005 and 2007, he assisted in the creation and validation of the SEI assessment and the Vital Signs suite. From 2013 to 2016, he served as the organization's global Research & Development Director. In 2016, he was appointed Regional Network Director for Six Seconds Italia. Three years later, in 2019, he launched EQ Biz, a corporate division within the Italian branch. In January 2023, Fariselli became the Regional Network Director for Europe and joined the global advisory board of Six Seconds.
Research
Fariselli has authored research on the application of emotional intelligence in workplace environments. In 2007, he led a study analyzing data from over 400 adults which indicated a positive correlation between age and emotional intelligence scores. He was a lead author of a case study on the Italian manufacturing firm Amadori, which reported that managers' emotional intelligence scores correlated with variations in performance ratings and employee engagement levels. His work has been published in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation and Salute e Società. In 2024, he co-authored a study examining the neurological correlates of emotional intelligence.
Recognition
In July 2019, Fariselli presented a framework for emotional intelligence in schools at the Italian Chamber of Deputies. During his tenure leading Six Seconds Italia, the organization's POP-UP Festival was awarded the Medal of the Presidency of the Italian Republic in both 2018 and 2019.
