ShortSummary= Zhuang Daoren (Aloysius Pang) is selling jade in the streets. Meigui (Carrie Wong) mistakes him for a conman and is about to arrest him when screams pierce the air: “Robbery! Robbery!” Meigui ties Daoren’s hand to hers and goes after the robber. She nabs Yishou (Zhang Yaodong), who has just been released from prison, but it turns out to be a case of mistaken identity. Daoren returns to the inn his family runs and tries to pull a prank on his father, Shuiqing (Chen Shucheng), who is taking a nap. Just then, Boss Cai turns up for the free green bean soup offered by the inn. Yishou discovers his family has moved away and left no forwarding address or other contact. He takes out all his money and counts up only $80. Daohan (Felicia Chin) passes by and drops her wallet accidentally. Yishou picks it up and decides to keep it. Daohan plans to break up with her boyfriend, and asks him not to pick her up. Unable to hail a taxi to ferry her to work, she asks Jinbin (Yusuke Fukuchi) for a lift but is turned down. Daohan manages to get to her office in Lin Dashou (Brandon Wong)’s taxi, but discovers her wallet missing. Coincidentally, she meets Jinbin, who yet again refuses to help her. A pair of youngsters who look like lovers checks into the inn. The manager, Lin Jiajia (Chen Liping), stalls for time and calls the school principal, only to realise the two youngsters are siblings. Boss Cai turns up and surprises everyone by offering the inn a box of fish heads.

ShortSummary= Daoqiang (Rayson Tan) is the vice principal of Zhi Li Secondary School. One day, he is doing volunteer work in the school garden with Jiajia when a fire breaks out in the storeroom. He rushes to the scene and manages to catch the alleged arsonist. Daoqiang likes Jiajia, but does not dare to tell her so. Shuiqing encourages him to ask her out on a date. Yishou is unable to get a job because of his criminal record. He visits Uncle Wang and feels bad the latter needs to be in a wheelchair as a result of the incident that had put Yishou behind bars. Yishou turns up at the inn for free green bean soup and cannot help but order a few dishes as well. He stops himself from using the money in Daohan’s wallet and offers to work to pay for what he has eaten. Jiajia turns him down. Desperate, he takes out Daohan’s wallet to get some money. Jiajia’s suspicions are aroused by the feminine wallet in his hands. Yishou decides to stay the night at the inn, as he craves for a good bath. Daoqiang realises it was the janitor who had caused the fire, as he was smoking in the storeroom. He cancels the punishment meted out to the troublemaker.

ShortSummary= Daoqiang puts a movie ticket into Jiajia’s jacket, not knowing the particular jacket is Daohan’s. Daohan finds the tickets and assumes it is Jinbin who is trying to date her. She throws the tickets at Jinbin, who then assumes Daohan wants to ask him out. The misunderstanding ends on a sour note. Yishou returns to the garage where he had worked before his imprisonment and demands to be paid the renumeration owed to him. Going back to the inn, Yishou is confronted by Daoren and Jiajia, who demand to check his bag. Daohan’s wallet cannot be found therein. When Daoren demands to do a body search, Shuiqing stops him. Just as everyone’s frustration is rising, Daohan announces she has found her wallet.

Jiajia is displeased when Daoren asserts that Daoqiang must have skipped dinner at home because he has a date. Daoqiang waits in vain outside the theatre. When he discovers that Daohan had found movie tickets in her jacket, he realises he had blundered. Jiajia is disturbed when she hears Daoqiang gloating that it was due to a misunderstanding that his date did not turn up, and not because she does not like him. Yishou checks out of the inn and admits to Shuiqing that he had picked up Daohan’s wallet and used the money before returning it with interest. Shuiqing learns Yishou has no home to return to and offers him a job. Yishou reveals he is an ex-convict. Daohan assumes Jinbin is at the inn to look for her. She finds out later that he is Daoren’s buddy.

ShortSummary= Daoqiang is unsure of Jiajia’s feelings for him but does not dare ask her directly. However, he takes Daohan’s advice and invites her out again. Lin Dashou thwarts his plans. Dashou has regarded Jiajia as his goddess since she sat in his taxi, and hopes to ask her out on a date. Even though she turns him down, he is persistent, and even gives Daoqiang the impression he is her new boyfriend. Daohan buys movie tickets in an effort to engineer a date for Daoqiang and Jiajia. He notices the tickets and assumes Jiajia has taken the initiative. Hence, he retrieves the movie tickets he has bought. A series of errors ends with Jiajia watching the movie with Dashou instead. Daoqiang is left waiting outside the cinema, all alone. When Dashou learns what happened, he thanks Daoqiang for helping him. Daoqiang is sad he does not seem to share an affinity with Jiajia.

ShortSummary= Jiajia is clearly upset with Daoqiang. Shenlong (Zheng Geping) tries to persuade a dejected Daoqiang to buy a jade pendant to boost his love life. Daoqiang finds out Shenlong’s son is Guoli, and Shenlong is trying to sell the pendant to be able to buy school shoes for his son. Daoqiang buys the pendant, which leads Daoren and the others to assume he has lost his senses over love. Daoqiang gives the jade pendant to Jiajia. Though she tells him off for being old-fashioned, she is happy. Shuiqing decides to set off alone for a wedding overseas, as none of his children is willing to join him. Daohan meets Shenlong, who warns her that someone in her family who is going on a trip will meet with a mishap. Daoqiang gives Guoli a treat. They happen to meet Jiajia, who learns he had bought the jade pendant to help Guoli. She is insulted that the purpose of the jade is to “subdue” her. Daoqiang gives Jiajia a pair of shoes as an apology, only to learn it is bad luck to do so.

The Zhuangs are shocked to learn Shuiqing’ flight to Australia has crashed. Daohan blames Yishou for booking a seat on that flight for Shuiqing. Just as the family is preparing to travel the crash site, they discover Shuiqing still at home. Yishou had mistaken the date, and unwittingly saved Shuiqing’s life. He is thus deemed Shuiqing’s lucky star. The Zhuangs vow to treasure their happiness, as life is unpredictable. Daoqiang plucks up the courage to ask Jiajia out on a date.

Daoren has no choice but to give in to Lynn’s demands. Daoren relates what happened to Shenlong and the others. Shuiqing tells Daoren off for what he did. Daoren is angry with Meigui for harassing him and chases her away, even though Meigui wants to check into the inn. After their misunderstanding is sorted out, Daohan finds Jinbin easy to get along with. She learns he is unable to sleep because of his noisy neighbours, and invites him to stay at the inn for a few days. Jealous, Yishou claims Daoren has said all the rooms are fully booked. To Yishou’s dismay, Daohan starts dating Jinbin. Everyone is stunned when Daohan receives a frightful gift.

Shuiqing has to give in, as the majority votes to abolish the free soup project. Many people turn up and are disappointed that there is no free soup.

She tries to get money from him, but he captures her instead.

ShortSummary= Troublemaker and Guoli play basketball in school during the holidays. Bored, they draw graffiti on the walls. The janitor uses a mobile phone to photograph them in action. When Wu Yanbin (Elvin Ng) reports for work, he finds that the school principal is his former colleague, Cui Dabao (Ben Yeo). He tells Dabao that Siman is studying overseas and that he had returned home first. The janitor shows Daoqiang the photos. Troublemaker declares he did everything by himself and nobody else was involved. Daoqiang wants to punish Troublemaker severely, but Yanbin speaks up for him and even suggests offering the wall for students to develop their creativity. Sam checks out, but absent-mindedly leaves his briefcase with an expensive watch in it. It goes missing. He asks Jiajia to help him find the watch, which is a memento. Yishou and Lin-sao (Lin Meijiao) are the main suspects, as they had cleaned the room and changed the lightbulb. Jiajia tells her staff she hopes the culprit will put the watch into the mailbox by the next day.

He asks Shuiqing for an advance and redeems the watch. Yishou is about to put the watch into the mailbox when Daohan appears. He quickly puts the watch back into his pocket. His sneaky behaviour makes Daohan suspect he is the thief. Jiajia asks Daohan to keep Yishou at the reception desk, so that she can search his room. A briefcase is found there. Yishou claims he had picked up the briefcase. Jiajia refuses to believe him and asks him for the watch. Yishou has no choice but to hand it to her. Shuiqing asks Yishou to leave. Yishou is sad Daohan refuses to trust him. Jiajia senses something amiss when the customer asserts that the briefcase is not his. She questions Lin-sao, who reveals the truth. Everyone realises they have maligned Yishou.

Jane pretends to feel the same way. Infuriated, Daohan argues with Jane. Jinbin, who is just back from Taiwan, advises Daohan to be tolerant, with a view to her future. She breaks up with him. Hoping to save their relationship, he suggests a trip together. At the airport, Daohan spots Yishou, but is unable to talk to him as she is boarding her flight.

ShortSummary= Meigui dreams of her father being harmed in an alley and wakes up in alarm. She sees her medicine by her bed, but decides not to take it. Her mother wants to take her to the clinic, but is locked in the room by her. Trying to leave, Meigui finds Daoren waiting for her. Her mother had asked him to escort her to the clinic. He assures her that if she goes for her follow-up sessions and takes her medicine, her mother will give her freedom to go out. Daoren and Meigui head for their new shop. To their horror, they discover they have been conned of $100,000. Daoren accompanies Meigui home, where her mother is being harassed by Jinshan (Bryan Chan). At the sight of them, Jinshan runs off. He is caught by Daoren, and reveals he is Meigui’s father. He had left for America with another woman years ago, and is returning now to visit Meigui and her mother. Shuiqing is upset Daoren has been cheated. He agrees to let the latter set up a stall in the inn to sell his goods. Dashou tells Daoren that someone has offered $15,000 for their goods. He collects the cheque, and finds the buyer is Shuiqing.

ShortSummary= Chatting on the telephone, Jinshan seems to be talking to his grandson. Shuiqing catches him grabbing sweets from the reception counter. Jinshan lies that his blood sugar has been low and it is necessary for him to eat sweets. Daoren and Meigui take Jinshan shopping, and find his behaviour highly suspicious. Jinshan admits he has a family in America and that he has to go back. He apologises to Meigui. She is understanding, and suggests she help him reconcile with her mother. He turns her down, claiming he does not want to upset her mother. Meigui wants to carry on being Daoren’s business partner. Daoren confirms Jinshan is not Meigui’s father. Jinshan claims he is merely getting paid to do someone a favour. Daoren teaches Shuiqing how to use social media to track Daohan’s whereabouts. He finds out Shuiqing was the person who bought his goods. Shuiqing learns Daohan has left without a word. Daoren and Meigui’s mother make Meigui believe Jinshan is her father. He pretends to return to America. Shuiqing receives a call, saying Daohan has been kidnapped.

ShortSummary= Yanbin, Daoqiang and Troublemaker each draw a picture on the wall. Troublemaker draws a chicken drumstick and says it is Guoli’s dream. During recess, everyone sees a box with Guoli’s name on it. When Troublemaker finds a chicken drumstick in the box, he is reminded of the graffiti wall. He encourages his classmates to treat the wall as a wishing wall. Yanbin notices Guoli throwing the chicken drumstick into the rubbish bin. Shenlong changes Dashou’s 4D ticket to give the latter the impression that he has won the first prize. Elated, Dashou buys a big sack of green beans for the inn to start providing free green bean soup again. He also resigns and organises a banquet for his neighbours and friends. During the banquet, Jinhua finds out Dashou did not win a prize. Shenlong admits to his prank. Yanbin deduces that Guoli has been molested by Daoqiang. He reports it to the principal, who insists Guoli is lying. Both Guoli and Dongxuan claim they were groped and Daoqiang was seen in the vicinity. Daoqiang decides to file a police report to clear his name. Daoqiang greets Jiajia’s parents, who are at the inn for their meal. Just then, Shenlong appears and lashes out at him for what he did to his son. Jiajia’s parents’ impression of Daoqiang changes, but Jiajia trusts him.

ShortSummary= Shuiqing is happy the inn can once again provide free green bean soup. Many neighbours turn up to apologise for demanding medical compensation. Dashou plays a prank on Shenlong and causes him to fall. Shenlong is hospitalised. Daoqiang is suspended from his duties. Troublemaker warns Guoli not to malign Daoqiang, but she insists she is telling the truth. Dongxuan stops Troublemaker from fighting with her and admits it was he who had played a prank on her. Yanbin overhears their conversation. The principal decides to expel Dongxuan, who is unrepentant. Yanbin offers to find another school for Dongxuan, but he does not want to attend school. When Yanbin learns Dongxuan wants to become a chef, he offers to introduce him to a friend who runs a restaurant. Daohan returns from her trip and tries in vain to find Yishou at the airport. She feels bad when she learns Jinbin has given up on their travels. When she tells Shuiqing she decided on a breakup because Jinbin is difficult to get along with, he asks her to reflect on herself instead. Yanbin learns Dongxuan has been killed in an accident while on the way to meet him.

ShortSummary= Dongxuan’s death casts a pall on the students, who blame the school’s rules for his death. They go on strike and refuse to attend classes. Yanbin and Daoqiang encourage them to pull themselves together. After a match, they write messages on Dongxuan’s basketball and urge the school community not to forget their friendship. Yanbin catches a glimpse of Daohan and assumes she is Siman. He loiters in the streets, hoping to see her again. Hua-jie takes replacement meals and refuses to heed the advice of Jiajia or Shuiqing. Customers complain about Chef Liang’s slipshod manner. Shuiqing fires him. Jiajia is concerned about the business, but Shuiqing would rather do the cooking himself than be threatened by his staff. Daohan is popular as a campus DJ. When she is sent to the school to give a talk, Yanbin is finally reunited with “Siman”.

When he leaves, Daoren suggests Daohan become Siman’s replacement to console Yanbin. A maid brings the elderly person and the child under her care to the inn. Shuiqing laments that people do not realise maids cannot replace relatives. A disgruntled Liang gets his friends to order fishhead curry at the inn. He is peeved when Jiajia whips up the dish and earns praise from Shuiqing, Dashou and the others. Jinji often steals things and gives them to his friends. Zhixiang catches him in the act and reports to Yanbin. Making a visit to Jinji’s home, Yanbin finds himself being accused of being a thief instead.

Daohan finds out that Yanbin babysits Tim, who is often alone at home. His kindness makes her like him even more. Like Hua-jie, Fu-sao (Michelle Tay) takes replacement meals. She is hospitalised with food poisoning. Jiajia and the others remind everyone to be careful about what they eat. Yanbin picks up a bottle with a boy’s birthday wish in it. The boy turns out to be Uncle Wang’s late son. Daohan is inspired to try to fulfil the birthday wish of another person.

ShortSummary= Alone and lonely, Jinji ruins his birthday cake and food. He is pleasantly surprised when Yanbin, Daohan and the other students turn up to celebrate his birthday with him. Yanbin has also convinced Jinji’s mother to fly back from England. However, because his father did not return, Jinji flares up. His mother leaves in a huff. Daohan and Yanbin remind Jinji’s parents that Jinji needs their concern more than their money. Jinji is grateful when his parents promise to spend more time with him and his grandfather. He admits he had maligned Yanbin. Yanbin and Daoqiang convince the school to let Jinji return to school. This encounter deepens the admiration Yanbin and Daohan feel for each other, and their relationship blossoms. She is pleased when he expresses his feelings for her, but her happiness is short-lived. He soon receives news about Siman and rushes off. Daohan realises a replacement can never take the place of the original.

He goes into an office to change the water dispenser, and she goes into Mr Chen’s office. Mr Chen is pleased to see Yishou cleaning up the area after replacing the water. When Yishou is waiting for the receipt, he sees Emily sneaking into Mr Chen’s office and taking something from a pocket before hurrying off. Yishou rushes after Emily and asks her to return what she took. He even offers her the $50 he has in his pocket. Moved, she claims Mr Chen is her father. Fu-sao wants to go shopping in Johor, as the exchange rate for Ringgit is favourable. Dashou agrees to drive her there, but the normal charge will apply. Shuiqing and Daoren try to warn Dashou and Fu-sao of the dangers of driving into Johor but to no avail. Dashou returns from Thailand and relates how he was cheated by his girlfriend and robbed of everything. Luckily, he met a friend who helped him out. Shuiqing reminds everyone that greed leads to disaster.

Tiansheng tells Jiajia that Chu’er is their daughter. Jiajia’s mother had given the baby to him and lied to Jiajia that the baby was dead. Jiajia collapses in tears when her mother confirms this.

No one answers when Daohan uses Shuiqing’s mobile phone to call herself. Upset, she sends messages to her mobile phone with offers of rewards, as well as threats. Amused by the antics, Try soon finds out the phone belongs to Daohan. The next day, Daoren offers to help Daohan find her mobile phone by using a special app. They go on a wild goose chase and end up back at the inn.

Shenlong pretends to be indifferent, even though he cannot bear the thought of Guoli leaving. Knowing Shenlong is a messy and careless person, Guoli pastes Post-it notes all over the house to remind him of the chores. Shenlong breaks down when he finally leaves.

Unfortunately, she is caught by the blackmailer, who demands a ransom from Jiajia. Daoqiang is injured in a bid to save Chu’er. Chu’er finally accepts Daoqiang.

Daohan is moved when Try poses as Santa Claus and brings joy to all the children. Shuiqing is happy as well, and is finally able to put his trauma behind him. He even suggests putting up the Christmas tree again.

Daoren wants to invest in a bird’s nest business overseas, but Shuiqing and his siblings object. Upset, he rants at Meigui. Jiajia promises to support Daoren. When Daoqiang reminds her that she may lose all her money, she asserts that she is willing to show support for his brother, as he has been good to Chu’er. Chu’er finally agrees to let Daoqiang marry Jiajia. Daomei (Aileen Tan) returns in time for the wedding and brings her five-year-old child, Joey. Shuiqing is content, with all his children and grandchildren by his side.

He gets drunk, and Dashou gets Guoli to tend to him. Shenlong urges Guoli to take back the branded watch and study hard. Yishou rushes to the inn with a packet of noodles after receiving a message from Daohan. He learns it is Emily who yearns for the noodles.

Emily sees someone picking up the letter at the inn’s restaurant.
