List of lakes by altitude

This is a list of the highest lakes in the world. It aims to include the highest lakes and pools in the world. Some regions are still poorly described and the list is likely to be both incomplete and not completely accurate. The elevations are mostly from Google Earth, unless a direct measurement by climbers has been made. The dimensions (length and width) may vary throughout a year and between years. Most lakes are nameless - they are tentatively named after nearby mountain or a geographical feature (e.g. a glacier).
