Notable events in celebrity games
First season
- September 28, 2006 is marked with the very first airing of a replay since the show started. Celebrity gossip columnist and TV host Ogie Diaz's game was supposed to be shown on that day, but a replay of the June 12 episode (the second half of Blakdyak's game) was aired instead. No official reason was announced as to why this happened, although it can be attributed to the massive power outage in the entire island of Luzon caused by winds emitted by Typhoon Milenyo; the change in the airing of the game was probably an assurance that no viewer of the show would miss Diaz's game because of the blackout. Diaz's episode was aired the following day.
- Former Pinoy Big Brother: Teen EDition housemate Matt Evans from The Adventures of Pedro Penduko is the youngest ever single contestant in the show. He was twelve days shy of his 18th birthday when he played in the October 10, 2006 episode and took the Banker's offer of PHP80,000. His chosen briefcase contained PHP1,000. Only his fellow housemate Kim Chiu (16) is even younger; she and loveteam partner Gerald Anderson played in the January 8, 2007 episode, where they won PHP100,000 in a No Deal situation. Kim & Gerald also plugged their incoming soap opera Sana Maulit Muli which was premiered in the same station 2 hours later. They won PHP100,000 in a No Deal situation. Ordinarily, one should be at least 18 years old to be a contestant of the show.
- In the December 1, 2006 episode, midget comedian Dagul became the show's shortest ever contestant. In fact, he is so short, he had to sit on a high chair just to reach the top of the podium which hold the button. Child actors from Goin' Bulilit, where he appears as the only resident adult, were also with him to cheer him on. Dagul defended his briefcase to the end, winning PHP750.
- In the December 8, 2006 episode featuring Cesar Montano, the 26K wore red gowns and Santa hats as its theme for Christmas. Cesar chose briefcase 7. The host asked Cesar if the case signifies his plans of moving to rival network GMA-7. During the last round of the Post-Deal game, Kris said that if the briefcase contains PHP1.00, Cesar will remain as part of ABS-CBN. The case indeed contained PHP1.00. Cesar dealt for PHP7,500.
- In the December 15, 2006 episode featuring singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, she became the very first celebrity to pick a briefcase containing a million pesos. She dealt for PHP300,000 with the remaining amounts PHP300, PHP400 and PHP1,000,000 which were the same also to the amounts left in the episode of the celebrity Amy Perez last October 24,2006.
- For the first time since the pilot week, the show held its celebrity week featuring celebrities as contestants from January 15-19, 2007. Such move was made to counter the pilot week of GMA-7's Asian Treasures. The celebrities that played for the celebrity week were Philippine Vice-President Noli De Castro, Anne Curtis from Maging Sino Ka Man, Vhong Navarro from Agent X44, Yeng Constantino (Pinoy Dream Academy champion), and boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.
- In the January 15, 2006 episode featuring Philippine Vice-President Noli De Castro, the banker offered a P60,000 worth of house as a donation for Gawad Kalinga, a rehabilitation charity organization in the Philippines. The donation was made by the banker despite the fact that Vice-President De Castro only won PHP9,999 in a Deal situation, with his chosen briefcase containing only PHP1,000. It was the first time in Philippine TV history when a high-ranking public official from the executive branch of Philippine government joined a television game show.
- During Pokwang and Keanna Reeves' game last January 23, 2007, the banker offered PHP2, PHP3, and PHP1 in the first three rounds, making it the game with the lowest offers in three consecutive rounds. During the ending credits of the show, Pokwang climbed to the banker's skybox in order to see him. It was never known if Pokwang was able to see the banker in person since the ending credits immediately ended when Pokwang was halfway of the stairs to the banker's skybox. However, the commercial of the episodes from January 22-26 showed that Pokwang was able to open the door of banker's skybox, though it is still unclear if Pokwang was actually able to see the banker.
- To celebrate Kris' birthday, her mother, former Philippine President Corazon Aquino played in the February 14, 2007 episode. The rest of the Aquino family, except for Kris' brother and senatorial candidate Noynoy Aquino, also showed up to cheer the former president on. The episode occurred over two months after the December 4, 2006 episode, wherein she appeared in the show as a member of the audience in a surprise cameo. In the 2nd to 5th rounds, the banker's offers increased by PHP1,000 each round despite the fact that the highest amount per round was opened. In the end, she fought her briefcase and she won PHP400.
- Real life father and son Edu and Luis Manzano became the last contestants of the first season of the game show. They won PHP500,000 in a deal situation, only to find out that their case contained PHP2,000,000.
Second season
- Annabelle Rama and daughter Ruffa Gutierrez-Bektas were the first contestants of the second season, winning PHP250,001 (their chosen suitcase contained PHP500,000). This appearance seemed to be timely as Gutierrez was currently in a rift against husband Yilmaz Bektas.
- When Mariel Rodriguez played in the June 15, 2007 episode, she was surprised to be helped by Big Brother. Both the show and Pinoy Big Brother are created by Endemol.
- On the July 2, 2007 episode, Coney Reyes and Aiza Seguerra, who appear in the soap opera Ysabella, accepted the Banker's offer of PHP777,777 with their chosen suit case containing only PHP500. The digit "7" seems to be connected to GMA Network, where the show which made the two famous, Eat Bulaga!, is currently aired. Eat Bulaga! was a part of ABS-CBN's program line-up from 1989 to 1995.
- On the July 9, 2007 episode, Wendy Valdez, former housemate of Pinoy Big Brother's second season played. However, because her game became sour after the second round, the Banker proposed to her to pick one among the 15 fellow housemates (who came to cheer for her) to temporarily take over. She picked fellow housemate Dionne Monsanto to play for her for only one round. Wendy reinstated her place after the third round, but decided to bring Dionne beside her, feeling the latter would bring her good luck. This was Wendy's first time at the other side, having previously been a member of the 26K before appearing on Pinoy Dream Academy and eventually Pinoy Big Brother.
- In the July 23, 2007 episode featuring Angelica Panganiban, the banker offered Angelica with PHP100,000 in one of the earlier rounds. The banker wanted to increase the offer to PHP200,000 and even PHP300,000 if Angelica will break-up with her boyfriend, Derek Ramsay. Angelica refused. In a much later round, Kris Aquino asked Derek to give Angelica a good luck kiss. However, the banker called and told Derek to kiss Angelica at their own risk. Derek didn't pursue the kiss. Angelica won PHP635,000. In her post-deal round, the first case that she opened was P3,000,000. It turned out to be a good deal.
- Chot Reyes played in the August 1, 2007 episode, accompanied by the most of the Philippine national basketball team. At the time of airing, he and the team were in Tokushima, Japan competing in the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship, making it obvious that the episode was taped before they left the Philippines.
- When Batangas governor Vilma Santos-Recto opened the briefcase containing just one peso during the August 23, 2007 episode, the Banker told the actress that he would dance with her in front of the audience. But instead of personally doing so, he sent Edu Manzano, father to her son Luis Manzano, to dance with her, thus keeping the Banker's identity a secret.
- In the August 28, 2007 episode, when Christopher de Leon and wife Sandy Andolong played, Kris openly acknowledged that the success of the Philippine version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which Christopher hosted, helped spawn Kris' first game show Game KNB. The aforementioned success also spawned Philippine versions of Weakest Link, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and The Price is Right.
- When Sam Milby played in the August 30, 2007 episode, he made the stipulation that he would kiss the model who revealed the briefcase containing one peso. That model was Shin Yuriko who held Briefcase # 5. For fun, the Banker gave his own stipulation: whoever revealed the briefcase containing the three million would kiss the floor director.
- In the September 25, 2007 episode, Maja Salvador almost became a million-peso winner when she was left with the P3,000,000 and P5. Since she reached this Point After removing the P2,000,000 (unsurprising held by model Charmel de Asis), the Banker offered her P800,000 (less than half of the P3,000,005 total) as a test of guts; which Maja accepted. Her chosen briefcase turned out to contain the three million. Actually, she was the first celebrity contestant who picked a briefcase containing the top prize.
- In the September 27, 2007 episode, Gretchen Barretto was offered in the first round the amount her little sister Claudine won, which was P10,000. Gretchen would refuse. Eventually, she opened so many large amounts that she eventually won only P300.
- When the show was moved to the 6:00pm timeslot, the first six contestants were celebrities: Piolo Pascual, Maja Salvador, the team of Roxanne Guinoo and Jake Cuenca, Gretchen Baretto, Derek Ramsey, and Donita Rose. Maja Salvador and Donita Rose came out big winners with P800,000 and P500,000 respectingly. Interestingly, the contestant who played after Donita Rose's game became a millionaire. (See main article.)
- On the October 12, 2007 episode, in a reversal of roles, Kris Aquino became a contestant of the show. Boy Abunda, her partner on Boy & Kris and former player took over as host. Her game however turned so bad, she only won PHP50, proving that the game is completely fair and favors no one.
- On the November 2, 2007 episode, Pops Fernandez took the banker's offer of PHP704,500 with PHP250, PHP250,000, and the three million still in play. Her chosen briefcase contained PHP250,000. The offer Pops accepted included the amount her ex-husband Martin Nievera accepted in his game: PHP4,500.
- When comedians Dennis Padilla and Long Mejia played on the November 7, 2007 episode, 26 contestants from the Miss Earth 2007 pageant were the ones handling the briefcases instead of the 26K. Dennis and Long chose case #15 held by Miss Philippines, Jeanne Angeles Harn, based on the sum of their birthdates, October 6 and February 9 respectively. At the end, they refused the Banker's last offer of P299, and won P100 in a No Deal situation. The suitcase that contained the three million was held by Miss Uganda, Hellen Karungi.
- On the Christmas Eve 2007 episode, apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed PEAS, who at the time was spending Christmas in his home country, became the first internationally known celebrity to play in the show. He even performed the song Bebot for the 26K. In fact, whenever he opened a small amount, several Black Eyed Peas songs were played in the background. Overall, he won P10,000 in a No Deal situation.
- Model Charmel de Asis became the surprise Christmas Day episode's contestant. When she was called down to take the player's stand, she was holding Briefcase #22, but she chose Briefcase #7. Her participation in the show was done on short notice that no relative was present to help her. Instead, the other models who either had their briefcases opened or were not part of the episode cheered for her. Her game turned out so bad, that she won only P25 in a No Deal situation, again proving the cleanliness and fairness of the game, even if the contestant happened to be a 26K who most of time holds briefcases that contain very large amounts.
