Linzy Davis

Linzy Grant Davis (b. January 24, 1959, at Southside Hospital, Bayshore, New York), is an international basketball coach and Global Marketing Consultant for the new Elite Sportswear Company. He coaches the USA Elite National Team and has earned 5 world titles, and is co-director with Elbert β€œAl” Outlaw over Team Georgia Elite Basketball Club, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Known as Coach Linzy, he has coach a long impressive list of NBA basketball players including Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and Shareef Abdur-Rahim.{1} He is known as a leading figure and expert on identifying young elite international talent for USA high schools, colleges, and pro teams.[3]

Early Years

Linzy Davis grew up in Bayshore, New York, attending Southwest Elementary and West Junior High School, in Brentwood, New York. He also attended Monier Elementary, and Noble Junior High, and Benedictine High School, Detroit, Michigan, and graduated in 1977, a four sport star athlete, competing in basketball, football, baseball and track. He received a scholarship and played basketball at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan, and played under Ray Scott, former NBA player with the Washington Bullets. He also joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and crossed the burning sands 12/12/79.[2]

Davis graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1981, and began his career in medical supply industry building a lucrative business. {2}

International Involvement

Davis has imported international student athletes into the USA since 2001. In 2009, 27 student-athletes around the world received visas to the USA after being discovered by Davis.{3}

Davis compiled a team of international players that captured a NEAA National Championship in 2006. Davis also coached players from Spain, Alex and Manuel Sanchez; and Mohamed Tangara, Almamy Thiero, Hassan Nientao and Isa Diallo, Mali; Mamadou Marega, Senegal.[1][4][5]

Davis coached the USA Elite National Team that won the u20 Nike Douai World Championship, Douai, France, in 2001 (Carmelo Anthony, MVP), 2005 (Tywon Lawson, MVP) and 2006 (Chase Budinger, MVP). [1} Davis also coach the USA Elite National Team that won the u14 World Championship, Ardres, France 2005, and the u15 World Championship, Geneva, Switzerland 2006. [1]
