Linn Hendry
Linn Rothstein, better known by her maiden name Linn Hendry, (born c. 1950) is a Canadian-born classical pianist, living in England.
Biography
Education
Born and raised in Canada, Hendry began to play the piano at the age of three. She graduated from the Victoria Conservatory of Music in British Columbia and the The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, studying also in London, under the guidance of John Lill, Peter Katin and Andre Tchaikowsky.
Career
Hendry has been a prizewinner in many competitions, and she has appeared on stage, television and radio as a soloist and in chamber music, working with musicians such as Kálmán Berkes, Alexander Markov, Raphael Wallfisch and Christopher Warren-Green. Hendry has also accompanied Linda Brava on her tour in Europe and Asia. They performed on various TV shows, playing even for 200 million TV viewers at a time.
Hendry also worked closely with her late husband Jack Rothstein. They performed as a duo and in many chamber combinations, and she was often a soloist with his "Fine Arts Chamber Orchestra" in concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Dmitri Shostakovich. "Miss Hendry gave a fine account -- with dazzling articulation", wrote The Daily Telegraph of her performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9.
In the last few years, Hendry has dedicated her time to coaching in chamber music and playing with young string players. She also hosts a bed and breakfast at her home in the London Borough of Brent, and is the director of Merry Widows Wine, an importer of award-winning Austrian wines.
Discography
For ASV Records, Hendry has recorded the complete violin and piano works by Nikolai Medtner and Alfred Schnittke as well as the complete oboe and piano works by Benjamin Britten. Hendry has also recorded virtuoso cello music with Raphael Wallfisch for Chandos Records.
