LibraryWorld

LibraryWorld is a web 2.0 integrated library system developed by LibraryWorld Inc used by more than 2,000 libraries. It performs library automation and collection management tasks and via software as a service on LibraryWorld Inc’s cloud computing platform. Public, academic, K-12 schools, medical, museum, and other special libraries use it. Its modules include: catalog, circulation, patron, inventory, and serials. Notable users include Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Hawaiian Historical Society, 10 High Tech Institute campuses, Honda of America, 26 ITT Technical Institute campuses, Kellogg School of Management, L’Oreal USA, Purdue University, and the San Diego Zoological Society.

LibraryWorld Modules

Catalog module – The catalog module performs MARC importing and editing of catalog records using records from the Library of Congress or other collections. Book jacket images automatically appear provided by an image sharing service.

Circulation module – The circulation module performs check-out, check-in, renew, hold and reserve functions.

Patron module – There is an OPAC (Online Patron Access Catalog) in which patrons search the library or collection from the Internet.

Serials Module - A serials control module allows tracking of expected serials, such as magazines and journals. There is a missing serials report function.

Inventory Module - An inventory module allows for discovery of missing items in a collection. There is a missing items report function.

LibraryWorld Features

Online Web service

Database management and security - Each library’s data resides at a tier 1 Internet service center and is stored in its own SQL database with no shared data structures with other libraries. All data is stored on mirrored disk drives preventing loss of data due to disk crashes.

Multiple-library management - This feature allows multiple libraries to be managed using a unified catalog.

Mobile Access - LibraryWorld Mobile allows searching of collections from mobile devices such as the iPhone or the Blackberry.
