Lesli Cameron

Leslianne Siobhan Cameron Murphy (born June 19, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario) is an Canadian singer and Broadway actress. She finished in second place behind winner Nick Collins on the fourth season of the reality/talent-search television series Instant Star, narrowly missing the win by AbOUT 2% (approximately 1.3 million votes) out of over 65 million votes. At 17, Cameron was the youngest contestant among the set of finalists in the fourth season; she was a senior in Toronto, Ontario at Degrassi Community School.

Biography

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Cameron moved to Los Angeles, California at a young age where she began singing publicly, including at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta with the International Children's Choir. She later attended Orange County High School of the Arts where she received the California Governors Award for the Arts. Cameron is best known for being the runner-up in the fourth season of CTV's hit reality show Instant Star. She performed alongside Skye Sweetnam, at a few venues in order to promote her debut album, Careful With Word.

Instant Star

Cameron took part in the fourth season of Instant Star, finishing second after a close race with winner Nick Collins. Cameron was known for her acoustic piano pop style on the show.

She made it to the finals opposite Nick Collins whom previously had been her teacher at Degrassi Community School. At the show's finale they performed a duet of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", which launched rumors of a relationship between the contestants.

Music

In the summer of 2007, Cameron's single Potential Break Up Song was featured in the movie, Bratz as well as the television show The Hills. The Song reached #1 on the Canadian charts.

In August 2007, her debut album Careful With Words entered the charts at #1 beating out Nick Collins band, Crystal Clear. Her first single off the album was Song for the Broken which featured a music video directed by Nick Collins and hit #4 on the US Charts.

MusicAL Theatre

In January 2008, it was announced Cameron would perform the roll of Belle in the Disney stage production of Beauty and the Beast at the Princess of Wales Theater in Toronto, Ontario. Cameron will make her stage debut in March 2008
