Leptoprin

Leptoprin is a dietary supplement marketed by "A.G. Waterhouse", a subsidiary of Basic Research; Salt Lake City, Utah. It was formerly known as Anorex (see anorexia).

It was originally developed for the clinically obese and thus was marketed as such. In 2007 the formula changed and the company began focusing advertisements on other products.

There is also a less expensive "generic" version of the formulation called "Leptopril", which is advertised as being developed by "Generix Labs". The two products are the same, being marketed to different consumer personalities by the same company.

Ingredients

As of 2007 the ingredients of this product changed considerably. In addition, the stimulant free version of the product was discontinued.

• Trimethylxanthine (i.e., caffeine)
• Schizonepeta tenuifolia (spica) SE
• Rhodiola rosea (herb)
• L-Alanine
• L-Valine
• L-Methionine
• L-Cysteine
• L-Leucine
• L-Isoleucine
• L-Glutamine
• Green Tea (leaf) SE
• Forsythia Suspensa Vahl (fruit) SE
• Coleus Forskohlii (root) SE

The former ingredients of Leptoprin/Leptopril are:

• Vitamin B6 25mg (1250% RDA)
• Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) 324mg
• Caffeine 200mg
• Green Tea Extract (no amount listed)
• L-Tyrosine (no amount listed)
• Kelp 100mg
• Ephedrine 20mg
• Cayenne (no amount listed)
• Rice flour base

The former ingredients of Leptoprin SF are:

• Calcium (amino acid chelate) 132mg (33.3% RDA)
• Leptoprin-SF 1493.5 mg A trademarked proprietary BLEND of the following:

  • Commiphora Mukul Extract
  • Garcinia cambogia (HCA 125 mg)
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Acetylsalicylic acid 162.5 mg

Many of the ingredients May Be purchased less expensively in other brands or products. For this reason, a complaint was filed against the company's marketing technique in 2004.
