Lawrence McLachlan
Lawrence "Laurie" McLachlan (20 August 1862 - 26 December 1912) was a Scottish professional footballer.
McLachlan joined East Stirlingshire in November 1883 having previously been with Cowlairs. He instantly became the main player of a rapidly improving team, becoming Captain by January 1886 (a position he held for the next 5 seasons). In his time with East Stirlingshire he won four Stirlingshire Cups and four Falkirk and District Charity Cups. He was also Capped 9 times by the Stirlingshire FA and was recognised by Scotland playing with the Scottish Crusaders team who played Aston Villa in 1886/87.
By the time Laurie retired from football (at the end of season 1889/90) he had scored a recorded 135 goals in 179 games with many more unrecorded goals more than likely scored by him. His known goals tally represents the highest amount any player has ever scored for East Stirlingshire. After retiring he became a member of the committee at East Stirlingshire.
