Landry M. Simmons, Jr.

Landry M. Simmons, Jr. (born 5 February 1969 in Bay Village, Ohio) is an American law enforcement officer of twenty-five years and a Republican politician.
Politics
Simmons ran as a republican candidate from Ward 11 in Cleveland's 2017 mayoral race. He currently serves as an elected committeeman for Ward 11B for The Republican Party of Cuyahoga County. Simmons is campaigning for Cleveland Mayor in the 2021 election.
Law Enforcement
Simmons is currently a deputy sheriff with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2010,  Simmons was involved in an officer shooting while attempting to prevent a shoplifter from leaving while off-duty. He suffered minor injuries during the event.
Music Industry
Simmons formerly owned the hip hop and rap recording company Simmons Time Records, a local label catering to the Midwest, using the internet to reach smaller towns. The first signed musicians were Hellish Made Clique which rode to No. 6 on the Rolling Stone MP3 charts in 2000, magazine issue 834. Their single "Pistols Up" was featured on a Riffage Movie Madness compilation album which sold over one million copies worldwide. Canis, a member of Hellish Made Clique, was also signed by Simmon’s label as a solo artist in rap. Simmons Time Records released Canis’ My Life in Exchange for Yours in 2000. Simmons later sold the label to focus on his law enforcement career.
