Kuldip Vats
Kuldip Vats (born 20 April 1956) is a Sports Enthusiast and a Sports Administrator.A former International Volleyball player,who is the current President of Delhi Olympic Association; Executive Vice-President of Volleyball Federation of India(VFI), and a Joint Secretary(earlier a member) of Indian Olympic Association. His contribution to Sports and Sports development as a player-administrator is lauded by one and all.He is a role-model for budding sports talent.
Early life & Sports Career
Kuldip Vats was born at the house of Sabha Chand Vats at village Jaunti in Outer Delhi on April 20, 1956. Hailing from a family of sports-lovers,soon he became ACTIVE in outdoor sports including Kabaddi and Volleyball. During his college days, he earned reputation as a Volleyball player which only enhanced afterwards. As a player he represented India at International level too. Mr.Vats remained engaged with sports even during his employment. His passion for sports kept him unmarried and totally dedicated for sports development in last many decades.
Sports Administration
Mr.Kuldip Vats is one of the few sportspersons who are actively involved in management of sports in India. His current engagements are: President, Delhi Olympic Association; Joint Secretary(earlier a member) of Indian Olympic Association; Executive Vice-President, Volleyball Federation of India; President,Delhi Volleyball Association, Vice-President World Kabaddi Federation(former President) and former President of Asian Kabaddi Federation. He is a former President of Amateur Kabaddi Federation Of India(AKFI).
Mr.Vats has also been associated with Veteran Athletics Association and many other sports organisations. He is actively involved in promotion and development of sports and has been honoured on several occasions in India and abroad. Mr.Kuldip Vats has been on various committees looking into sports related matters and has relinquished many responsibilities, from being observer representing IOA to being Chief-De-Mission of Delhi contingent during Ranchi National Games. He was also the Joint Secretary of XIX Commonwealth Games organising committee.
Contribution
Throughout his life he has been associated with sports development. In sports circles of Delhi he has been a known face since his youth. Under his guidance Delhi Volleyball Association successfully conducted the International Volleyball Tournament in 1992 and 1994.
