Kristian Rönn

Kristian Rönn is a Swedish entrepeneur and author. He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Normative, a soft-ware specialising in carbon-accounting company. In 2021, Normative raised €10 million in a funding round led by technology investors. Alongside Normative, Ronn wrote The Darwinian Trap published by Crown Currency in 2024.

Career

In 2013, Rönn worked as an academic project manager at the Future of Humanity Institute at University of Oxford, where he focused on global catastrophic risks.

In 2014, he co-founded Normative, a software company that specialises in carbon accounting for businesses.

Rönn has spoken at international conferences including the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP) and the World Economic Forum in Davos. He has also been interviewed by media organisations including Bloomberg and CNBC on topics related to carbon accounting and corporate sustainability.

Ronn has participated in Swedish Government business delegations to climate conferences.

He also founded the SME Climate Hub in 2020 alongside Johan Falk and Majda Dabaghi. He also served on the Technical Working Group responsible for updating the GHG Protocol Scope 3 Guidance.

Author

In September 2024, Rönn's The Darwinian Trap: The Hidden Evolutionary Forces That Explain Our World. The book argues that evolutionary incentives may cause humans to prioritise short-term decision-making in modern society. Rönn introduces concepts such as "Darwinian demons" that represent constructive evolutionary forces.

Recognition

In 2013, Kristian Rönn was named one of Google.org's "Leaders to Watch". Additionally, Rönn has been acknowledged by the United Nations Development Programme for his contributions related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action).
