Kootumuchikal amma

The Kootumuchi temple is located 23 km from Trichur, in the village of Vellatanjoor. The temple deity is a goddess called the Kootumuchikal Amma, considered to be the incarnation of Durga. The local people have the utmost respect and fear for the Kootumuchikal Amma.

Daily Rituals

The Moothamana Namboodri conduct the daily rituals. The temple opens at six in the morning for Pooja and closes at eight. Being a small temple, the poojas are simple and of short duration. In the evening the temple opens for pooja at half-past four and extends to seven.

Festival

The annual festival Pooram at the temple is celebrated with high importance during the months of January and February. The festivities include elephant processions and the Panchavadyam , Tayambajka etc. Special Poojas are performed on this day.

Other festivals include the usual festivals like Onam & Vishu.

Offering

The best offerinf include the Chuttuvllaku ( Lighting of lamps around the temple) . This will cost you about Rs 500. Other offering include the Bhagavthiseva ( Making Payasam as offering to the Goddess) Other Usual Offerings Pushpanjali, Muutuerakal etc
