KOI-1686.01

KOI-1686.01 is an unconfirmed Kepler Object of Interest (KOI) candidate exoplanet approximately 1033.8 light years from Earth.

The candidate object, a super-Earth, has a radius 1.33 times that of Earth. KOI-1686.01 orbits a dim star, named KOI-1686, within its habitable zone, a zone where liquid water could exist on the surface of the planet. KOI-1686.01 has an Earth Similarity Index (ESI) of 0.89, temporarily making it the most habitable KOI, until it was overtaken by KOI-4742.01 with an ESI of 0.91.

The host star KOI-1686 (KIC 6149553, 2MASS J19540173+4128445) is a somewhat cooler star than the Sun. {{-}}
