Knowle Juniors 'A' F.C.
Knowle Juniors 'A' F.C. is a football club based in Knowle, England. They were established in 2007 by Andrew Field (Manager). For the 2009-10 season, they are members of the Fifth Division of the Central Warwickshire Youth League U12's.
History
Knowle Juniors 'A' is part of the Knowle F.C. group. They were formed as Knowle Juniors 'B' in 2007-08 season. The majority of the players coming from St George & St Teresa RC Primary School, Dorridge School and Bentley Heath School. A number of 12 players were in the original Knowle Juniors Team.
Matthew Mayo has been Club Captain since the beginning of the 2008-09 season.
U10's 2007/08
Knowle Juniors 'B' began life in the eighth and last division of the Central Warwickshire Youth League. Their first league game (which also happened to be their first ever game) was as U10's against Glades F.C. The game was at Kixley Lane (Knowle's Temporary Pitch) and ended 2-2. Jack Prior and Josh Samuels scoring the goals. Their second game was a league game against Holy Souls F.C. The scorers were Josh Samuels, Will Taylor and Jack Prior. It was especially EXCITING for Samuels to score as Holy Souls was his old team.
After a run of brilliant results, success eventually paid off when a final game of the season trip to Glades F.C. resulted in a 3-1 win with new signing Matthew Mayo scoring a hat-trick to give Knowle Juniors the title and promotion to Division 7.
U11's 2008/2009
The Departures of Jack Prior to Solihull Juniors and Jamie Williams (moved to Bournmouth) were overshadowed by the arrivals of Sam Conway, Aliastair Hall, Benedict Plimmer, Freddie Barnes, Conor McGodlrick and Tom Connelly.
Knowle Juniors 'B' changed their name to Knowle Juniors 'A' during pre-season of 2008-09, Nino Barbieri agreed for his mens' barbers, Toni Barbieri, to be Knowle Juniors' official shirt sponsor, Rob Wormald joined the coaching staff aiming to be a professional coach himself and Matthew Mayo was named Club Captain.
The Robins beat the previous Knowle Juniors 'A' in a pre-season friendly 1-0, with a goal by Harry Field. This was their first game as an 11-a-side team.
The season started on a high as they annihilated South Side Eagles 14-0 in the Open Cup. They then lost to Division 4's Holy Souls 9-0 in the League Shield. They crashed out of the second round of the Open Cup, losing 2-1 to Knowle F.C. (previously Knowle Juniors 'A')
Edward Price began to have troubles with his knee and he therefore quit Knowle Juniors. Tom Connelly also became terribly unwell, so he also quit Knowle. Goalkeeper Daniel Farr joined Knowle during mid-season becoming Knowle's first proper 'keeper, replacing an annoyed (normally outfield) Harry Seymour. But, Farr then jarred his knee, which disabled him from playing for the rest of the season. Harry Seymour replaced him for the remainder of the season.
They struggled throughout the season winning only 8 of 18 games in the league (drawing 5 and losing 5 as well) and having many games postponed didn't help either. After a dismal season, and a final day 7-1 defeat to North Birmingham Celtic resulted in 6th place for The Robins.
U12's 2009/10
With Daniel Farr still sidelined, Andy Field captured the signature of Goalkeeper Matthew Hill. The season started with a 2-2 draw with Studley Juniors, Matthew Mayo and Harry Seymour the goalscorers. The next game was in the league, with a 6-2 demolition of Bournville Warriors, including Freddie Barnes' 4 goals.
They then played 2 cup games: The Open Cup, winning 4-1 against Hampton Sports and The League Shield, beating Sporting 5-2 (both teams in Division 3).
Their success continued with a 7-0 thrashing of Bromsgrove Rovers. However, their unbeaten run came to an end when Bartley Reds slenderly beat The Robins 2-1.
