History
Though Knattspyrnufélag Reyðarfjarðar is considered founded in 2007, the club history goes back to 2006 when the club started playing in the nearby town of Stöðvarfjörður under the name Súlan due to reconstruction of the stadium in Reyðarfjörður. The club finished its first season in 6th and last place in its group, with 7 points from 10 games
In 2007 the club was registered under its own name and moved to their new stadium in their hometown. The teams performance started to improve and the club finished in 3.rd place of 9 teams in the league with 16 points from 8 games and a respectable goal difference of +25 (37-12).
In 2008 the team decided to step up to the Icelandic 3rd division, but due to a lack of performance in the pre-season, the club withdrew and went back into the non-league competition. The team didn't perform well there either and finshed 5th out of a 6 teams, with 13 points from 10 games. This year, the team entered the Icelandic cup where the club got to 2nd round before being eliminated by 1st division giants and neighbours KF Fjardabyggd
Players
Due the team´s little budget the team only brings local player´s to field. The club does not field a youth team, but has gets most of it´s players from Umf. Valur Reyðarfjörður. As Reyðarfjörður is a rather small town, pop. 1500, the club often uses a rather young players.
