Kirant Bantawa Ruchhenbung Rai
According to the historical records, Rais are the descendents of the ancient Kirants. Even in the world's earliest books like the "Rig Veda", there are descriptions AbOUT the Kirants. From the recent researches and surveys, it is claimed that there are about 10 categories of Rais and later added up to 32 amongst all of which Bantawa is one of them. Kirant Rais have "pachha" which resembles their ancestor or something relating to their ancestor. For Bantawa, it overall means the descendents of the specified person. Others like the Chamling, it means their ancestral place. In between the sub-group and the pachhas, Kirat Rais also have the "samaya". Samaya are the records of travels. It tells about who went where, which place and where they settled. So "samaya" is very important cause it never changes. For Bantawas, "pachha" is the important factor when they check if the other parties can become their in-laws. Though there are records about the "pachhas" in different related histories, the sub-groups are unexplained. It can be said that the spoken languages in different ages of the ancient Nepal created the sup-groups. This is seen from the present languages of different Rais. Amongst all the Bantawa Rais, Ruchhenbung is one of the Bantawas Rais. It is believed that Kirant Bantawa Ruchhenbung was one of the descendents of the great "Yalambar" himself. It was found that the Kirants ruled the Kathmandu valley( Yalkhom or Nepal) during the "Mahabharata" times till 110 A.D. After the defeat by the Lichhavi King Jayadeva, Kirant king's sons started to exit the valley. At this period, some Kirants headed straight to the east while some Kirants went south-west from the valley to Makwanpur(Makandapur) and from Bara's Pathalaiya to Simraungadh and have found to be settled there. From the historic notes, from Simraungadh, two Kiranti brothers Chhangchha Hang and Nachha Hang went from the Terai, inner big forests and rivers towards the east. In the east, from Baraha Chatara Dewasthi towards Khokwalung. Crossing Khokwalung, at Maina Maini they didn't get to settle so they went from Arun Rivers trails to Irkhuwa rivers' Dovan. From there, they went North. From north to Salpa Pond's down Salewalungkhim (Salewawung) which is Dovane Village Development Committee at present. Chhangchha Hang and Nachha Hang's sons settled in Salewawung. During the hunting of deer they travelled Ghoptekharka, Maiyung hills, Dalsinghe and under Temke hills which is Dilungpa(Dilpa now). Back then the Napchas used to live in Dilungpa(Dilpa). They were defeated from there and Changchha Hang's descendents settled in that place. Till now they have settled in Dilpa Kerabari Area. Chhangchha Hang's son was Shiva Hang. Shiva Hang's son was Dhiwa Hang. Dhiwa Hang's son was Bokboliya. Wokwoliya's son was Balahang and Balahang's son was Hitam. Hitam had five sons and one daughter. Eldest Rungmangchha, second Ruchhenbung, third Mukarung, fourth A-wei, fifth Banu and the daughter Warihang. Amongst all the Rais at Dilpa or around Dilpa, only Ruchhenbung had the "Sen Mohar" privilege. It was Singhadeo, who had received the "Sen Mohar". Along with ten soldiers he was inside the Sen king's palace according to the historical notes. Later during the Shah dynasty rule of Rajendra Bir Bikram Shah, there was another Ruchhenbung who had received the "Lal Mohar". Thus Kirant Rai Bantawa Ruchhenbung's ancestor had travelled from Simraungadh to the final place Dilpa Kerabari. In these long journey they have shown a very skillfull warskills, adventure and political skills as shown by the historical documents. The awareness of the Kirant Rai Bantawa Ruchhenbung's history is due to the many political changes that occurred in Nepal at different times. It is all about people realising their innerself. People starting to know about themselves. People starting to get the real truth. With these realisation, in all these surroundings, for those ethnic Nepalese who have been left behind, their true religion, their language, lifestyle, clothing etc. researches have been performed. For this people are starting to rediscover there ways. And it is a positive proof of getting the bright future of the new Nepal.
