Karl Gomes

Karl Gomes, (23rd January 1978, Mumbai, India), is an Advertising and marketing communications professional specializing in Digital marketing, New Media, Social media and Web 2.0. Karl Gomes has worked as a Computer Art lab instructor, freelance consultant, taught advertising professionals, set up New Media divisions at various Advertising agencies and spearheaded creative teams. Karl has been awarded at Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, Webby Awards, The One Club, New York Festivals, Asia Pacific Adfest, Abby and AAAI . Karl has also served on the Cannes Cyber Lions jury at Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, ADFEST Cyber Lotus Jury, Asia Interactive Awards Jury, Abby Awards Jury and the Yahoo Uncannies Jury.

Career highlights

Karl was previously at Arc Worldwide / Leo Burnett India where he was Executive Creative Director – Digital from August 2007 to October 2008 to leverage Web 2.0 and new media.. Prior to which, Karl was the National Creative Director at Tribal DDB India where he worked on creating digital brand demand .

Achievements

  • 1st Indian Bronze Cyber Lion at Cannes 2008 for an Online campaign “highlighting whats important” on various online portals for Luxor Highlighters.
  • India’s first Silver Pencil at the One Show Interactive 2009 for an Online campaign “highlighting whats important” on various online portals for Luxor Highlighters.
  • 1st Indian Cyber Shortlist at Cannes 2006 for an online campaign on Timesjobs.com, which also helped make Timesjobs the number 1 Job portal in less than a year.
  • 1st Indian Webby award for a simple and intutive multilingual portal enabling 170 million policy holders to pay premium and access insurance related information for Life Insurance Corporation of India.
  • 2nd Indian Shortlist at Cannes 2007 and 2nd Indian Webby award for MTV India’s Online Campaign to get users to protect themselves on World Aids Day.
  • “Young communicator 2008” by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC), Pune for outstanding contribution in the field of media and communication.
