Kappa Mu Alpha
The Kappa Mu Alpha Fraternity, Alpha Chapter, at the University of Maine at Machias was founded in 1953. The Fraternity has a rich history at the University of Maine at Machias, as the oldest student organization on campus, existing since 1928. Kappa Mu Alpha was originally Sigma Kappa Omicron Fraternity, later KMA became Zeta Sigma Alpha Fraternity before evolving into the Kappa Mu Alpha Fraternity. KMA was founded on the principles of Kinship, Morality, and Assistance and holds true to the same traditions and ideals today. Times have been changing and the college has set out to try to make life for greeks as difficult as possible and KMA is leading the fight against the discriminatory policies of the office of student life. The fraternity will continue to thrive, embracing the spirit of University of Maine at Machias and Providing an opportunity to all non-greek men of good social and scholastic standing an opportunity to join the brotherhood.
