Birth and Education
He was born in 1956 in Munroethuruth in Kollam, South India as son of P Kunju pillai and P Ammukkutty, he had his basic Education in Kollam. Higher education in engineering in TKM College of Engineering Kollam and College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Thiruvanathapuram
Career and Achievements
Started career as faculty at the TKM College of Engineering, Kollam and later served in senior engineering positions in Kerala State Electricity Board. He has also served as the technical adviser to the minister for Electricity. He had a major role in introducing Interactive Planning in power sector in Kerala. Now he is the Chief Engineer Distribution South, Kerala State Electricity Board.
Energy Conservation Activities
Radhakrishnan is very actively engaged in energy conservation research and has presented papers in large number of seminars. The popular slogan 'Switch off a light and avoid power cut' was his contribution. He has pioneered the activities in Kerala on the observance of Earth Hour in 20091. His finding that switching off the fridge for three hours during the peak load can make an energy saving up to 15 percent and subsequent publicizing of it has revolutionalised the consumption pattern in Kerala State. Has made many contribution through print and visual media on Energy Conservation.
