K. R. Roopa
K.R. Roopa was born at Kuzhuppilly village in Ernakulam district. Her father N. Ramapai is an artist as well as teacher, her mother Smt. Pushpha Latha and brother Mr. Jithu doing BCA have also inspired her in developing MusicAL talents.
Roopa, now doing her final year Post-Graduate in Music at RLV Music College, Thrippunithura. She started showing interest in music at a very tender age. Her tryst with music is continuing for achieving much higher goals. She started learning Carnatic music from age 5 under Sri. Sunil Basker (Who also taught her the Violin) and studies under distinguished Teachers like Dr. Malini Hariharan and Tamarakkadu Govindan Namboothiri, and learning Violin from age 7, under Sri. Sunil Bhasker and T.H. Subramaniyam. She bagged first place in classical vocal and violin in state level youth festival 2001 to 2005 continuously and has done independent concerts in violin.
On April 5th, 2008, out of 20,000 applicants, Roopa won the popular music reality show "Super Star Global" on Amrita TV after eight months of performing on the show. She is now beloved by Super Star fans for her musical brilliance as well as her selection of simple melodies.
