The Juulchin Tourism Corporation was established under the name Juulchin Foreign Tourism Corporation in 1954 as the State tourism company of then-Communist Mongolia, originally serving only tourists from the USSR and other communist nations. In 1962 visas for travel in Mongolia were issued to foreign tourists for the first time. Juulchin organised hunting trips in the Gobi and operated several tourist camps.

With the ending of communism in Mongolia, Juulchin Travel was privatised and is now wholly privately owned. It continues to be the largest tourism company in Mongolia. The name Juulchin Foreign Tourism Corporation was used until 2004. The new name is Juulchin Tourism Corporation of Mongolia.
