Jupp (editor)

jupp is a portable version of Joe's Own Editor version 3.1 forked by Thorsten Glaser in 2004 when the development of JOE stagnated. It has been enhanced by several functions intended for programmers or other professional users, and has a lot of bugs fixed.

Features

Basic differences between JOE and jupp are

  • another flavour, jupp, similar to jstar, better suited for programmers and sysadmins
  • utf-8 support on non-locale-aware OSses
  • bug and security fixes
  • tab completion fixes
  • code cleanup
  • compiles with -Wall -Werror (on MirOS BSD)
  • improved options menu
  • visible spaces

jupp also does come with the editor flavours known from JOE, specifically, jmacs, joe, jpico, jstar, and rjoe. Not all features of jupp are available for these though (but all the bugfixes; syntax highlighting is now enabled by default for all flavours).
