Joshua Pielemeier

Joshua Phillip Pielemeier is an American pianist. Growing up primarily in Arlington, Washington where he attended Masters Touch private school (now Highland Christian), and later became homeschooled where he had more time to hone his craft. He studied under the renowned instructor, Judy Baker and performed with several notable orchestras including the Everett Chamber Orchestra. Joshua began playing piano at around the age of seven, when his babysitter taught him how to play "Heart and Soul." He continued learning pop-style keyboards as well as drums, guitar, and bass until starting serious classical piano lessons at the age of twelve. The next several years saw Joshua traveling around the state of Washington, winning competitions and playing with orchestras. While finishing his senior year of highschool, he was accepted at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where studied with Douglas Humphreys, who accepted three freshman pianists this year from around the world. He gives all the thanks and glory to God.

Personal Life

Joshua comes from a very supportive family, many of which are involved in the arts in some way. He was born to Julie and Jim on April 1, 1987 and the eldest of three (coincidentally also J names, Joel and Jasmine). Joshua attended Victory Foursquare Church and often led worship in both youth group (Uturn) and in Sunday services. In addition to piano, Joshua also plays acoustic guitar, electric, bass and drums. Joshua has also taught piano lessons for many years and is known for his encouraging instruction. He is also known for his eclectic clothing choices as well as his dark, silky hair which often goes uncombed. He is a fan of Homestar Runner and enjoys swimming. He has an affinity for the ladies which is prominently displayed in his ability to acquire any female's phone number. Some of his favorite musicians are Sigur Ros, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens. In addition to music, Joshua also plans to develop his passion for poetry.

Current

Joshua is currently attending Arizona State University alongside his younger brother. He is most recently seen playing with local bands, playing at his church, teaching piano and traveling.
