Josh Spear

Joshua Lee Spear (born May 26th, 1984 in Middletown, Connecticut) is a well-known Internet entrepreneur, cool hunter, brand strategist, blogger, and trend spotter.

Spear is best known as publisher of his blog JoshSpear.com that reviews emerging trends in Art, Design, Food, Gadgets, Travel, and LifeStyle. He is also the managing director of the Spear Creative Group, his brand consulting think tank.

Spear has been featured in the New York Times, Time, The Denver Post, The Times, the Canada National Post, Adweek , The Vancouver Sun , The Age , and House & Garden .

Spear has Delivered speeches to senior management at McDonalds, Leo Burnett, Community Next, University of Colorado and most recently in Europe at Google Zeitgeist 2007.

Undercurrent

In April of 2007, Spear founded Undercurrent alongside partners Rob Schuham and Aaron Dignan. Undercurrent is best described as a digital think tank, focusing on what he describes as "bleeding edge digital marketing strategies for global clients." Currently little information is known AbOUT Undercurrent except they have presence in Boulder, CO, New York City and London-- and often spoken about in his public speeches.

Competitive Climbing

Spear grew interested in rock climbing and became a competitive rock climber. He's most well known for his difficult first ascents in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, as well as placing in numerous climbing competitions nationwide.

Personal life

Spear grew up in Northwestern Connecticut with two brothers, Micah Spear, a photographer and Jonah Spear, an actor in STOMP living in NYC. His parents fostered his creativity in his upbringing, his mother, Joan Spear, a composer and father, William Spear, a well-known Feng Shui expert. Spear went to three high schools in Sheffield, Massachusetts, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Litchfield, Connecticut before graduating early and moving into New York City where he worked in Lifestyle Marketing. When it was time for college he chose CU Boulder, and left after three semesters to spend time building his companies. Spear has lived in Boulder, CO, New York and London.
