José Vasco
José Vasco (born José Nuno Saraiva Vasco in September 3, 1991) is a Portuguese rock singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer born and raised in Alcobaça, Portugal. He is best known for his solo work in his own name he composes and produces.
Early life
José Vasco was born in Alcobaça, Portugal, the son of Leonor Saraiva and José Alberto Vasco, who is a music writer as well as an event organizer and press contributor. His father's work as an adviser to hometown bands such as The Gift or Loto got him close to the music world since very young. He learnt to play the piano very young at a music school, and later took particular guitar lessons from Israel Costa Pereira.
As a teenager he joined Red Line, a band consisting of a bunch of friends from school, as the bassist. They played live throughout their hometown, including a one of a kind live practice at the local book fair.
After high school he moved to Lisboa, Portugal for College. He has got a bachelor's degree in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico. Following those academic years, he made the life decision to work for Collab.
Career
José Vasco began working on his solo project well before having the producing capabilities he later ended up developing. Due to this, his first song "Ain't Insane" was co-produced with his longtime friend and former Red Line bandmate Diogo Freire. That song was shared via MySpace, which was the platform he picked to share the following songs as well before moving his brand new releases to SoundCloud.
In February 27, 2016 he made the public presentation of the videoclip of his first single "New World Society" at the bar Café Trindade in his hometown. The videoclip was an immediate success and would surpass the thousand plays on YouTube some months later.
His second single "A Feast for Crows" was announced along with a teaser video and released online on March 11, 2017.
He is a regular player at Construction Club in Lisbon. Every friday, hundreds of people gather in this gay entertainment club to listen to the beloved musician.
