John Oliver (banker)
John Oliver is a banker whose main focus is on strategic planning process implementation.
Early years
John Oliver was born in Bedford, England. He worked initially for the National Westminster Bank (now part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group), and then at the merchant bank Kleinwort Benson (now a part of the Commerzbank AG Group). In 1978, he joined Rothschild Intercontinental Bank, and transferred to the United States to set up a project finance and venture capital subsidiary that was subsequently acquired by Continental Bank. He has lived and worked in the United States in a number of roles ever since.
Current activities
He has been a frequent public speaker in a number of events in the USA as well as Asia, Europe, South America and Australia . He is on the faculty of the BAI Graduate School of Banking and the Community Bankers School . He also acts as the lead faculty and curriculum designer for the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) Center for Applied Executive Management.
Through his company Laurel Management Systems, Inc John Oliver provides consultancy on strategic planning and corporate governance to community banks and credit unions in the US. His company markets a comprehensive tool designed to help directors of credit unions in their strategic planning called CUplanner and a similar tool for community banks, titled FIplanner.
He currently lives in Palm Springs, California.
