John Benedick
John Benedick (born in Bangalore, Karnataka) is an Indian footballer who plays as a centerback for Pune F.C. in the I-League.
Career
Early career
Benedick started playing football at the age of 7. He started out as a striker but eventually was converted into a defender by his coach Andrew. After playing in a few school tournaments in Bangalore Benedick joined Southern Blues. After impressing with Blues Benedick was called up to the Karnataka U16 state team and eventually found himself joining CIL in 2004. After spending two years at CIL Benedick joined Bharat Electronics Limited where he stayed for a further two years.
After impressing in a nation-wide U21 state tournament for the Karnataka U21 team Benedick was invited to trial with Mumbai who were then part of the I-League 2nd Division. After impressing in the trial Benedick signed professional terms with Mumbai and thus became one of the first players to sign for the newly formed club. Benedick played for Mumbai for three seasons and was a regular starter for the club when they got promoted to the I-League.
Pune
In 2011 Benedick signed with Pune. Benedick missed the whole of the 2010-11 season due to an injury.
