Jitendra Prasad (Naval architect)

Mr. Jitendra Prasad is Indian Born Naval architect presently citizen of US and residing at Houston.
He is an internationally acclaimed Personality in oil and gas sector with more than 40 year of Experience
He started his career in Mazagon Dock limited, Mumbai, India after B.S degree in Naval architect and Marine Engineering From prestigious IIT kharagpur, India, where he was associated with construction of ships. He was also associated with the design and construction of very first build Frigate in india INS Nilgiri. Shortly after, he went to University of California at Berkley, USA for his M.S. in Ocean Engineering.
Mr.Prasad spent next three year with Rosenblatt & Sons in San Francisco before moving to Earl &wright consulting firm as an Engineering manager. There he spent considerable time in London, Singapore, Australia as a lead Naval architecture and Structure Engineer and was responsible for design and construction of semisubmersible ,jackets, fixed towers TLPs and many more offshore structures.
In 1985, he moved to Paris, France for five year to join Sedco Forex (Schlumberger) as a chief Naval architect where he was responsible for all structural and Marine Engineering works as well as field support for company entire fleet of semisubmersible jack up and drill ship. He also played a major role in designing new generation Semi (SEDCO FOREX 900) as project Manager. In 1990 he arrived in Houston and began work as the vice Presiden of PMB/Bechtel Offshore until 1997 when he moves to Noble Drilling as Vice Presidenet.
In Noble drilling he was major impetus behind development of 5 th generation Semisubmersible (EVA) and guided from concept design to final delivery. EVA was triaglur semisubmersible and unique design whose concept was initially rejected by many. Once he said, “Whole world was laughing at us when we think of making triangular semis”. However, later on it come up with many advantage ,in his own word "One of the unique features of the vessel is its circular holding plot. The rig is unbiased in any environmental direction, meaning that, although it is a triangular design, load coming from any direction is about the same." This means it is unnecessary for the rig to change heading if environmental conditions change, unlike other semisubmersibles or with drillships that may need to move 15-20° or more because they can only receive a load from the bow. "To my knowledge, this is the only rig in the world that can do this," Prasad said. "All of our EVA's are that way.
"EVA design and the Noble Paul Wolff are successful is because of Noble Drilling's engineering effort. "We did not let the vendors do the engineering for us," Prasad said. "We used the knowledge from the vendors, but we did our own engineering."
He also manage the up gradation and enhancement on company’s existing fleet of jack up semi submersible and drill ships along with developing new concepts for deep water Drilling. After retiring from Noble he worked as consultant for many companied including VN& unique solutions and Gusto Msc. Presently he is Chairman and Technical Director of Priserve Engg Solution.
He was also president of BANA (Bihar association of North America) during 1997-1998.
