Jimmy Del Ponte
Jimmy Del Ponte is an American radio personality currently at Oldies 103.3 in Boston. He works on the morning show with June Knight, Mauzy Stafford, and host Dale Dorman. Del Ponte writes parody songs and contributes jokes and skits to the program. His skits include "Frankie from Everett," "Concetta," and sports updates from "Joe Jennings." The character "Concetta" was thought up by Jimmy himself after his grandmother. Concetta's husband "Joe" in the skit, is actually Jimmy's grandfather. Both have long passed, yet jimmy chooses to use them as funny characters in his skit, showing his love for his grandparents.
Education and career
Del Ponte graduated from Emerson College in 1977 with a BFA in MusicAL theatre. He spent 13 years on the "Matty In The Morning" show at Kiss 108 in Boston. His colorful local characterizations won him and then-producer Rich (RockY) Bouno the Best Morning Drive award in Boston Magazine in 1986. Del Ponte's characters Blanche and Jonny C became popular favorites.
Del Ponte has shared stages and venues with Tony Bennett, Bobby Vinton, Peter Tork, and The Grass Roots. He has the role of a priest in an upcoming movie, The Brother From Boston, which won awards at the San Antonio Film Festival.
Family
Del Ponte has two sons who are following in his musical and acting footsteps.
