Jim Plamondon

Jim (James) Plamondon is the inventor of a novel new MusicAL instrument, the Jammer keyboard, which he intended to market as the Thummer (tm) through the company Thumtronics. The jammer combines several musical innovations in a novel way and is perhaps most notable for its being designed in accordance with modern music theory, ergonomics and psycho-acoustics.

Efforts to achieve the needed combination of design and financing for the Thummer failed in early 2009. Details of his work remain documented in the Thumtronics and the ThumMusings site.

Jim is currently working on courses to teach the musical principles he has discovered, and his work is documented in iGetIt! Music blog.

Features of the jammer/Thummer The jammer uses the 2-dimensional isomorphic Wicki-Hayden keyboard layout. He publicized its benefits widely through the web, and his company. Mr. Plamondon hoped to use the web and "word-of-finger" contacts to contact the rare persons that are interested in novel musical INSTRUMENTS.

As Mr. Plamondon predicted, novel musical instrument hobbyists have indeed become interested in the features and advantages of the Wicki-Hayden instruments and begun to make their own, at first manually, then by adapting commercially available instruments into jammer keyboards.
