Jhandir

The Jhandir are a tribe of Qureshis, found in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

History & Origin

The tribe claims to be Qureshi Arabs, and say that their name is derived from jhanda (standard in Urdu, Seraiki and Punjabi), as their ancestor hsd been a standard beared to the Prophet Mohammed

Distribution & Villages

The Jhandir are found mainly in Shorkot Tehsil, with a few villages in Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Multan and Lodhran districts.

In Shorkot Tehsil, their main villages are Sadiq Mohammed Jhandir, Jhandir Niaziwala, Kotli Jhandiran and Basti Jhandir.

In Khanewal District, Jhandir and Mohri Jhandir are the main village.and jhangal mardyala 157/10R.(mian shahzad jhandir)

In Lodhran District, Jhandir is the main village.

In Muzaffargarh District, the main villages are Patti Jhandir, Jhandir Durega Sharqi and Jhandir Durega Janubi.
