History

JFrog was founded in 2008 by Shlomi Ben Haim (CEO), Yoav Landman (CEO), and Freddy Simon (Chief Scientist), with the goal of developing products that enable automation of software updates, tracking, and distribution, that will support all leading platforms in the market. The company's headquarters in Israel are located in Netanya. In 2009, the company won its first customers, Cisco and Netflix. In 2012, the company reached 200 customers, and raised $3.5 million from the Gemini Fund. In 2014, the company raised an additional $7 million, led by the Gemini Fund and VMware. In 2016, the product Xray was launched, and the company raised $50 million. In 2018, the company raised another $100 million.

The company's growth also included the acquisition of several companies, including CloudMunch in 2017, Trainologic in 2018 and Shippable in 2019.

In August 2017, JFrog was included in Inc Magazine's list of 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America.

In 2018 and 2019, following a surge in the popularity of its Artifactory product, JFrog entered most "Top 100" lists in the technology and DevOps fields, including Deloitte, Forbes,JMP Securities, IDC Innovator, and others.

In September 2020, it filed for an IPO, with an optimistic initial plan that valued the company at $3.2 billion. The day before the IPO, in light of high demand, the stock price was updated to reflect a valuation of $4 billion. The company went public on September 16, and on the first day of the IPO, the company's value jumped to $5.8 billion.

In June 2021, the company acquired the Israeli company Vdoo for $300 million.

In June 2024, the company acquired the Israeli company Qwak for $230 million.

In May 2025, JFrog partnered with NVidia in providing secure software supply chain for its enterprise AI Factory. In July of that year, it launched its MCP server that connects AI agents with developer tools.
