Jay Sosnicki

Lead vocalist for the Los Angeles-based hard rock quintet, Mojo Rib. Born on Long Island, New York, Sosnicki first caught attention as the writer/publisher of Nuthing Sacred, one of the DIY publications that, along with Answer Me, Cometbus and Ben Is Dead, defined the underground zine explosion of the ‘90s. He parlayed this into a career as a music and film critic, but eventually turned his attention to rock 'n roll.

In 1999, Sosnicki joined forces with guitarist Drew Simon, playing Sosnicki-penned acoustic numbers with a decidedly hard rock approach. With the addition of a rhythm section and electric guitars in 2001, Mojo Rib was born – the group quickly gained a reputation for its explosive live shows. The addition of Joe Favazza in 2002 relieved Sosnicki of guitar duties, and the group solidified into a tight, stripped-down hard rock outfit. Sosnicki drew particular notice as a frontman, combining a raspy voice with a high-energy stage persona and a bawdy, tongue-in-cheek lyric style. He has recorded two albums with the band, 2003’s Mojo Rib (Album) and In For Sin (Album), released in Summer 2007.

Sosnicki began a hiatus from Mojo Rib in 2007, focusing on an as-yet-to-be-released solo album, and the formation of a new band. He continues to helm Nuthing Sacred as a multimedia collective, focusing on music, film, theater and related merchandise. He lives in Los Angeles.
