Jane Elizabeth Ryan is an American author, screenplay writer, and film producer who works to familiarize the public with . She retired from a career as a Registered Nurse and counselor and currently lives in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Ryan is the author of Broken Spirits Lost Souls, a non-fiction book that details the effects of bonding interruptions caused by neglect and/or abuse. Ryan then wrote a novel and the award-winning screenplay, The Boarder, which portrays within a family trying to understand and help their disturbed son. The lack of parental support and education about their children's pasts and behaviors hindered their development. A film based on this book, Disturbed Child, based onThe Boarder, was released in 2012 for which Ryan wrote the screenplay, directed and executive produced.
