Jamie Samuelsen
Jamie Samuelsen is a Detroit sports radio broadcaster. Originally from the San Francisco area, Samuelsen graduated from Northwestern University in 1993. He lives in Troy, Michigan and is married to Channel 7 News Anchor Christy McDonald.
Radio career
Samuelsen began his radio career with the Illinois Radio Network in Chicago. From 1994 to 2007, he worked for WDFN, one of the original broadcasters from when the station became all-sports. He began by reading sports updates for host Ike Griffin, who referred to Samuelsen as "Sammy the Sports Sultan." During the mid-90s, Samuelsen began co-hosting the midday show with former WDFN personality Gregg Henson.
In 2002, Samuelsen began co-hosting the morning show on WDFN with Greg Brady who were referred to by the other WDFN hosts as 'The kids in the morning'. In November 2007, he and Brady were unceremoniously laid off by WDFN as part of cut-backs by Clear Channel. Before then, "The Jamie and Brady Show" was the only local sports morning show in Detroit.
On Jamie's blog from www.freep.com, he mentioned he'd be returning to the 6am-8am radio slot as of Monday the 10th of December, but likely without Greg Brady or Matt Sheppard. On December 10th, Jamie returned to WDFN for the 6am-8am radio slot, along with Rob Otto.
