James Delaney (Laois)

James Delaney was a fugitive from the crown. He died on November 8, 1858 in the Slieve Bloom mountains. Delaney was on the run for the [...] of a landlord's agent Richard Ely, of Ballaghmore Castle. He reportedly escaped from the police after a Ball of Wool was thrown from a window to alert him, when he called down for food from the caves in the mountainside where he was hiding in the townland of Rossabawn.
