Jaime Gandara
Jaime Gandara is an American Professional Road Cyclist for Kenda Pro Cycling P/B Spinergy wheels and Traveler's Insurance <http://www.kendaprocycling.com>. He was born and raised in (El Paso, Texas on June 29, 1982) to Jaime and Elisa Gandara.
He began racing bicycles at the age of 16. That year he participated at the U.S. Junior National Championships in the 15-16 male age group. He placed third in his first National Championships thus starting strong in a career that has already spanned through 10 years of world class competition. In 2001 Jaime was called to race with the Amateur team Renaul/Autasa in Bilbao, Spain. He lived and raced in the region for an entire season and had a tough breaking in to the European cycling scene. He returned to the U.S. to try his new legs and found good form at the 2003 Espoir national championships and placed a respectable 5th in the Individual Time Trial event. This led him to being selected to race at the CyclingCenter in Hertsberge, Belgium. From here, as he was one of few Americans in the area, he was selected by the U.S. National team to participate in selected races. He raced in Belgium for 3 seasons and came back to the states in 2006. In 2007 he raced for Colavita/NM and was picked up by Abercrombie and Fitch for the remainder of the season. This led to him being selected for the Elite Inferno Pro Cycling and is now Kenda Pro Cycling. In 2009 Jaime Gandara will be participating in races around the U.S. such as the Tour of New York, Tour of Missouri, and other major stage races along with the USPRO national championship in South Carolina.
He is a TT specialist with strengths in Stage Races and longer Road Races. His diverse abilities and his size make him a valuable rider in many situations.
