Jae Deen
Joshua Asare also known as Jae Deen, is a Ghanaian-Canadian Rapper and singer. He started his career with remixes of popular songs, which led to a following on social media. He joined a Muslim rap group called Deen Squad to bring an Islamic flavor of hip-hop to the rap world.
Early life
Jae Deen was born on 23 September 1994 at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. His birth name is Joshua Asare. He converted to Islam from Christianity at age 15.
Education
He completed his education with a major in religious studies as a student at Carleton University.
Promotion
Jae began writing and composing rap songs with his friends in middle school. He reached the public eye during late 2014 in his pursuit of becoming a motivational figure for the Muslim community.
Career
He quickly gained recognition performing at shows across Ontario. In late 2014, Jae began to release videos online, which resulted with him attaining global popularity. He made several videos of himself rapping.
Association With
In January 2015, Jae Deen and Karter Zaher enrolled in the same class at Carleton University. After collaboration, they built a strong relationship. Together they coordinated and managed hundreds of events internationally and travelled to over forty countries. They launched the "Deen Squad". Deen and Karter's videos appeared on the BBC and CBC national news, as well as online articles, notably the front page of FADER.
Awards
He won the first place at the RIS (Reviving the Islamic Spirit) Convention’s talent competition 2013 and placed among the "Top 16" in world Awakening Records’ "Worldwide Talent Contest". In 2015, he joined Ampli-Tune Records for management and representation.
