Jackson Murphy

Jackson Murphy, known as Lights Camera Jackson, is a 12 year old movie critic, and author of the popular online column Lights-Camera-Jackson!. Murphy has branded himself the "Kid Critic"-- he offers family movie reviews on his website, on TV and on radio. In 2010, Jackson became the youngest winner of a NY Emmy for "On Camera Talent: Commentator/Editorialist".

Early career

Jackson started his professional career as a movie critic at the age of 7 and a half when he began weekly reviews on a local radio station. After a year on the radio, Jackson expanded his efforts with start of his website. Jackson increased his reviewing schedule to multiple reviews throughout a week and incorporated blogging on movie news and rumors. In the winter of 2009 Jackson expanded again with his weekly syndicated TV appearances.

Post-radio career

In 2010 Jackson had several major milestones. He appeared on Fox and Friends to review the upcoming Oscars nominees, correctly predicting all of the winners in the major categories. He grabbed the attention of several celebrities, notably Roger Ebert who declared Jackson his favorite 10 year old movie critic. Jackson was also nominated for two NY Emmy awards, and won "ON CAMERA TALENT: Commentator/Editorialist". Jackson was the youngest person to ever win that award. Jackson made 5 National TV appearances during the summer, including on "Weekend Today"(NBC) in late June and "The Early Show" four different times. He was blasted by Howard Stern on his satellite radio show following one of his appearances on "The Early Show" on CBS for his luke-warm review of "Inception."

Jackson was signed by CBS as a contributing critic to "The Early Show" and, in the fall, also became a regular contributor on "The Morning Show" on Seven Network in Australia. His movie reviews also appear every weekend in The (Troy) Record newspaper. And he has been the subject of numerous articles and stories in both the U.S. and internationally, including an article in Variety (Oct. 22, 2010).
