Ivory Standard
Ivory Standard was a niche employment website that has been described as "a fancier version of Craigslist". Its geo-tagging system makes it accessible to all parts of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand and the company announces plans to expand to other parts of the world.
Business Model
Ivory Standard allows jobseekers (candidates) to view any and all ads free of charge, with or without a free membership account. Employers and recruiters (clients) can post ads for a small fee each without registration. Frequent posters do have to option to sign up for a member account, which allows posting multiple ads for a fixed monthly fee. Jobseekers, similarly, can choose to pay for a premium account, which would give them access to services like JobTicker (so they could receive an SMS message each time a new ad gets posted).
Advantages
Ivory Standard's advantages include direct URL's to content pages, low costs of use, an elaborate flagging system, a mobile-friendly interface, and the use of disposable e-mail addresses to protect poster anonymity. Like in Craigslist, employers using Ivory Standard can choose to mask their actual e-mail address. They can use the default alias (job-XXXXXXXXXXX@job-ads.ivorystandard.com) or they can create a customized one, e.g. SantaFeBagels@job-ads.ivorystandard.com.
Disadvantages
The query system has been described as complicated. Beginners may need some time to get acquainted With It.
The company went out of business in 2014.
