Ivette Mejias

Ivette Mejias de Hernandez (born August 23, 1972) is an American-Puerto Rican born writer, an entrepreneur and President of M-TACS, Inc. She was raised in Puerto Rico. Created M-TACS, Inc in 2007, a tutoring and consulting practices in Aguadilla, P.R. In 1990 married SFC. Hernandez, also from Puerto Rico. It was her husband's constant deployment to overseas that her entire life became diverse in personal, academical and professional experiences.

Early life

Mejias is a native-born United States citizen, being born in Manhattan, New York, the first of three children. She is the daughter of Miguel A. Mejias and Luz D. Maldonado, who were born in Jayuya, P.R. Her paternal grandfather was successful business man, Ramon Mejias. One of the sectors in Jayuya is named in her grandfather's memory, for he was the first person to first develop a road to such sector: La Cuesta de Los Mejias.

In an attempt of obtaining a better life, Mejias Sr. moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1971 and later to Manhattan, then the family relocated back to Puerto Rico in 1974. In 1982 her parents filed for divorce, and the results were to live near poverty. At the age of 17, Mrs. Mejias meet SFC. Hernandez and in 1990 got married.

Academic and professional career

While stationed in Germany, Mrs. Mejias worked as a representative for the Revlon company at the Ramstein, B.K and Kairselaten. Later worked as a child care technician in Baumholder, Germany and later made her own Family Children center mainly to care the children of the military families deployed overseas or other military assignments. In 1999 she obtained an associates degree from Jefferson Community College, where successfully graduated with honors, received the Privilege to be invited as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa (an honor society) and was recognized in the Who's Who among college students for her academical achievements. In 2001, graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from the Armstrong Atlantic University, received four different academic awards. In 2003 received a Master's degree in Business Administration from the American Intercontinental University with a 4.00 GPA and currently is working in obtaining her doctoral degree from Capella University.

While stationed in Watertown, NY she worked as a child care worker, AAFES Representative, and Private College teacher. Later, when transferred to GA, she worked as a Probation Officer, Case manager for troubled youth, Coordinator for the Juvenile Justice Civil Panel Review, and last worked as a Generalist for DFCAS (Department Of Family and Children Services). After her husband's military retirement, they decided to move back to Aguadilla, P.R. in which she started to work as a teacher in the same school that she enrolled her child, in order to have a better assessment of her son's school ProgresS, especially being that her son's native language is English. Later, was promoted as a principal. Her last employment was as a Condominium's administrator. In 2007, after her several experiences with children and youth, realized of the great need for tutoring services in Aguadilla

Family & personal life

In 1990, Mejias married SFC. Reinaldo Hernandez, a military sergeant whom she met when her husband was on vacations in Puerto Rico from his military service. She has referred to her husband as "the rock behind my success". They have one child, born in Idar Oberstein, Germany.

Mejias and her husband are Protestant. Currently attending the church "Ciudad de Salvacion" in Isabela, P.R. The family had properties in GA and now in Puerto Rico. Mejias is an admirer of Oprah for her success and ability to help millions of people. A fan of Frank Thomas, a baseball player who was a former Chicago White Sox player. To Mrs. Mejias recognition, she is constantly looking for ways to help people, especially the youth and women's leadership. She is known for her professed love of her husband and child and is a strong believer in woman's leadership. Constantly seeking ways to motivate women to become the best they can and to follow their dreams. Her favorites quotes are "live the moment like is your last", "you can be whatever you want to be, if you persist in your dreams." Her company's slogan: "Your success is our commitment."
